In the award-winning novel “The Miseducation of Cameron Post,” author Emily M. Danforth tells a moving coming-of-age story that chronicles first love and heartbreak, family obligations, and the fight for self-acceptance as her teenage protagonist comes to realize her lesbian identity– even as her experiences in a so-called “gay conversion” camp try to prevent her. Danforth says that she set out “to speak to young people” who grew up feeling that they, because of their LGBTQ+ identities, didn’t have a place in the literary canon.July 27, 2024
